
President Emmerson Mnangagwa was installed as the Chancellor of the Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rungano Zvobgo on Friday. Mnangagwa was installed at the university’s graduation ceremony and is now officially the head of the institution. Mnangagwa takes over from former President Robert Mugabe whom he deposed last November as the Chancellor of state universities. On Wednesday, Mnangagwa was installed as the Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe (UZ).
Mnangagwa was also conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Politics and International Relations (honoris causa) degree. According to the GZU, the degree is in recognition of his selflessness and sterling service to the nation. On Wednesday Mnangagwa was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Law by the University of Zimbabwe.
