Former Zanu-PF national political commissar and G40 member Saviour Kasukuwere was arrested yesterday on allegations of criminal abuse of office. Kasukuwere who handed himself over to the police spent the night at Rhodesville Police Station and is expected to appear in court today.
The charges of abuse of office come from the time that Kasukwueere was Minister of Local Government and from when he was the Minister of Indigenisation. He is alleged to have illegally parcelled out land worth $2 million to former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s sister Shuvai Junior Gumbochuma. Gombochuma was arrested last week over the same matter and was granted $500 bail. Jasukuwere is also alleged to have engaged Brainworks Capital to provide consultancy services to the National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Board (NIEEB) in billion-dollar projects without following due process.
