Former Minister Sued By Zesa Over $327 000 Unpaid Bill

 

Former Minister of Defence Sydney Sekeramayi has been sued at the High Court by the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (Zesa) over an unpaid electricity bill of $327 481.  The debt was incurred at Sekeramayi’s  Ulva Farm.  In its court papers, the power utility says,

The defendant (Sekeramayi) is indebted or liable to the plaintiff (Zetdc) as at August 31, 2018, being charges of electricity supplied by the plaintiff to the defendant at the latter’s special request and instance in terms of the running electricity supply contract between the two. The defendant has failed, neglected or refused to pay the above amount despite written demand.

The former minister is yet to respond to the summons.
