The City of Harare has started raiding and forcing vendors off the streets of the central business district. The vendors disregarded pleas to leave the streets after the cholera outbreak started citing unemployment. The raids started on Saturday afternoon with the Zimbabwe Republic Police assisting the vendors.
At least 28 people have died and at least 5 000 cases have been recorded in the outbreak which has affected mainly the Glenview and Budiriro suburbs. The government has declared the outbreak a state of emergency.
