Jacob Mudenda Elected Speaker Of The National Assembly

Advocate Jacob Mudenda of Zanu-PF has been elected the Speaker of Parliament for the 9th Parliament. Mudenda won the election against MDC Alliance’s Paurina Mpariwa after garnering 179 votes. Mpariwa had 79 votes while 5 ballots were spoiled.  Mudenda was the Speaker for the 8th Parliament and has been praised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the instrumental role he played leading to the resignation of former President Robert Mugabe.
