Harare’s Cholera Deaths Now At 18, Some Boreholes Found To Be Infected

 

The number of people who have died from Cholera in Harare is now at 18 while hundreds more have been treated. Clemence Duri, Harare city’s acting director for health services told AFP,

As of this morning, we had 18 deaths.

Duri also revealed that at least 400 people have been admitted at health facilities and have been found to be suffering from either Cholera or Typhoid. Most of the sick are from Mbare, Budiriro and Glen View. The city has also decommissioned some boreholes after laboratory tests showed that the water was contaminated with cholera and typhoid-causing bacteria.

In 2008, at least 4000 people died from the country’s worst cholera outbreak.
