Chamisa To Hold Kwekwe Rally After High Court Sets Aside Police Ban

Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Nokuthula Moyo set aside a police order barring the MDC Alliance from holding a rally which had been scheduled for Kwekwe last Sunday.

Police had said the rally could not go ahead owing to an outbreak of typhoid in Midlands Province. Justice Moyo said according to the Public Order and Security Act (POSA), the MDC Alliance merely needed to notify the police. Justice Moyo said the Kwekwe rally should be held at a venue that has ablution facilities. In an interview with ZimLive.com, MDC Alliance deputy spokesperson Tabitha Khumalo, welcomed Justice Moyo’s ruling and said they are going to reschedule the rally and advice their supporters.
