No Need For Commission Of Inquiry: UK MP
United Kingdom Member of Parliament for Vauxhall and the chair of Britain’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Zimbabwe, Kate Hoey has dismissed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 7 member Commission of Inquiry. The Commission which will be chaired by former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe has been appointed to look into the events of August 1 events which resulted in the deaths of at least 6 people when soldiers used live bullets to quell a protest by opposition supporters.
Reacting to the establishment of the commission, Hoey scoffed saying,
No need for an enquiry- the evidence was clearly caught on camera – soldiers shooting civilians in the back who were running away. Orders to shoot must have been given by Army Commander.

Critics of the commission have also questioned its composition saying that some of the local commissioners are compromised and are not able to be impartial or independent.
