No Need For Commission Of Inquiry: UK MP

United Kingdom Member of Parliament for Vauxhall and the chair of Britain’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Zimbabwe, Kate Hoey has dismissed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 7 member Commission of Inquiry. The Commission which will be chaired by former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe has been appointed to look into the events of August 1 events which resulted in the deaths of at least 6 people when soldiers used live bullets to quell a protest by opposition supporters.

Reacting to the establishment of the commission, Hoey scoffed saying,

No need for an enquiry- the evidence was clearly caught on camera – soldiers shooting civilians in the back who were running away. Orders to shoot must have been given by Army Commander.

Critics of the commission have also questioned its composition saying that some of the local commissioners are compromised and are not able to be impartial or independent.

  1. Yes this so called Inquiry is an expensive and stupid charade. What needs to be clarified is “which commander or former commander gave orders to shoot”

  2. How do you determine which commander gave orders without an inquiry. That clarification you are talking about can only be done through a inquiry with outsiders involved otherwise we will hear people say the members are zanoids. For Kate Hoey I bet if she had been picked to be on the panel she wouldn’t saying that.Madam Kate Hoey its time to let the Zimbabweans solve their own problem. It all started November last year. We are going to be where we want to be.
