Ian Khama Not Attending Mnangagwa's Inauguration

Botswana’s Government has said that the country’s former president Ian Seretse Khama will not be attending Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration on Sunday 26 August 2018 due to prior commitments.

In a statement release, Botswana said Khama’s successor President Mokgweetsi Masisi‏ will travel to Harare to attend the Inauguration. Masisi and his entourage which includes former President Festus G. Mogae and other senior Government officials, will return to Botswana on the same day. part of the press statement reads:

His Excellency the President will be accompanied by the former President of the Republic of Botswana, His Excellency Mr. Festus G. Mogae, Honourable Dr. Unity Dow, Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, and Senior Government Officials.

President Masisi and his entourage will return to Botswana on the same day, 26 August 2018.The Ministry wishes to further inform that former President Lt-Gen. Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama will not be joining the delegation due to prior commitments.
