Speaking on Facebook, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Commissioner Dr Qhubani Moyo gunshots at his house in Selbourne Park, Bulawayo. Moyo was in Harare at the time.
He said a member of the police protection unit guarding his house was lying in a pool of blood. When contacted for a comment by VOA Studio 7, Moyo said he was not in a position to comment on the matter promising “to talk to you tomorrow as the situation is not good right now”.
He posted a message on his Facebook page expressing sadness over the shooting but would not elaborate more on the shooting. Said Moyo:

When contacted for a comment by VOA Studio, Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Charity Charamba said she was not aware of the shooting. Police sources told ZimLive.com that the police officer had suffered self-inflicted injuries, suggesting he shot himself, dispelling rumours of a more sinister development. The officer survived the shooting and was being treated at a hospital under police guard, according to the police insider.
