The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has dropped charges against Munyaradzi Shoko, the leader of the Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans’ Association (Cozwa) who was arrested for allegedly insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa in a Facebook post.
Shoko’s lawyer Kumbirai Mafunda of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights confirmed the police had dropped the criminal nuisance and public violence charges at court today. Shoko was also charged with public violence for allegedly taking part in protests by opposition supporters after the July 30 elections. AFP could not get hold of the police for a comment.
