If Small Scale Miners Become Responsible, Patriotic Citizens Zim Will Improve – Mines Secretary

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, Munesu Munodawafa has called on small-scale gold miners to deliver their product to Fidelity Printers and Refineries (FPR). Th secretary said that gold is a major foreign currency exporter and highlighted that if all miners sell their gold through formal channels the country would be transformed. Speaking at the Minex Indaba in Kwekwe recently, Munodawafa said,

Gold is the major foreign currency earner in Zimbabwe, contributing $977 million in 2017 which translates to 39% of total national exports. The gold sub-sector has great potential considering the amount of gold which is unaccounted for and goes into the illegal market. If all players in the subsector become responsible and patriotic citizens delivering all gold to Fidelity Printers and Refineries, I can assure you that this country will not remain the same.
