Constitutional Court To Deliver Judgement On Chamisa Challenge On Friday

Chief Justice Luke Malaba said the Constitutional Court will deliver judgement on MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa’s challenge on Friday 24 August on 2PM.

Chamisa is challenging the results of the presidential election announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec). Today Chamisa’s lawyer Advocate Thabani Mpofu argued that the results presented by Zec are not credible as evidenced by the fact that the electoral commission changed the results 3 times in 2 weeks.

Mr Tawanda Kanengoni who was representing Zec and its chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba argued that Chamisa did not file a valid challenge before the court based on a number of technicalities. President Mnangagwa’s lawyer also sought to have Chamisa’s case dismissed on a number of technicalities.
