South African Based Zimbabwean, Breaks Wine Auction Record
Joseph Dhafana, a Zimbabwean winemaker based in South Africa broke a record when he auctioned a box of six wines for R16,000 recently. The price is said to be the highest price recorded in South Africa ever.
Dhafana told The Daily News:
I am elated to let you know that I broke the record this past weekend. I auctioned a vertical box of Mosi wines at Solo Studios Intimate-Art Encounters event which was held in Riebeek Kasteel on Saturday August 11
FeedbackThe box went under the hammer for a whopping R16 000. This marks the first-ever box of SA wine to get that price money. 50 percent of the proceeds is going to charity and I will definitely plough back home some of the money…
Dhafana, who is 35 years old, started off as a gardener in South Africa after leaving Zimbabwe. He is now a qualified wine judge and owns his own wine brand, Mosi Wines.
