It’s Unfortunate US Continues To Punish Ordinary People For A Mistake Which Can Be Corrected: Chiwenga Speaks On Renewal Of Sanctions

Speaking to ZBC News in Russia, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga questioned the United States of America’s decision to renew sanctions against Zimbabwe.

He also said Zimbabweans should not be unsettled by the sanctions but should be encouraged to work hard. He said Zimbabwe is open to anyone who wants to work with the nation. Said Chiwenga:

To renew sanctions for what, I don’t think the people of Zimbabwe should be perturbed, but should give them zeal and energy and rebuild our nation, anyone who want to work with us can come and will take them on board, it’s unfortunate that the US continue to punish the ordinary people for a mistake which can be corrected, will not stop the new government to take on boards progressive nations who are willing to work with us.

  1. For the record, these sanctions are targeted at selected ZANU-PF individuals and entities, not Zimbabwe per se, nor the ordinary man in the street.
For example, Western Union, an American company, has never stopped operating and continues to bring much needed greenbacks from the diaspora, injecting some life into our battered, chronically mismanaged economy.
