Mwonzora Sues Herald For "Mugabe Splits MDC Alliance" Article

Secretary-General of the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC-T Douglas Mwonzora told NewZimbabwe that he is suing The Herald for an undisclosed amount of money.

This comes after The Herald published a story saying there was infighting within MDC-T over the role of former President Robert Mugabe. Mwonzora was quoted as saying he is against working with Mugabe and that the former president is a kiss of death. Mwonzora has since denied that there are divisions in MDC-T. He told NewZimbabwe that he is seeking exemplary damages. Said Mwonzora:

Today I have formally sued The Herald over the false story it published yesterday (Monday). I seek exemplary damages over the malicious story. While as a constitution maker, I respect freedom of expression, I think malicious reporting must be punished.
