Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta Congratulates Mnangagwa

The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta has sent his congratulations to President Emmerson Mnangagwa after he was declared the winner of the presidential election by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) last week. Writing on Twitter, Kenyatta said,

As you embark on a new mandate in Office, I wish you every success and reiterate Kenya’s commitment to close cooperation in pursuit of peace, economic development and stability on the Continent to ensure that the aspirations of Africa’s Agenda 2063 are realized @edmnangagwa

Kenyatta joins a number of African leaders who have sent their congratulations to Mnangagwa. Some of those who have publicly congratulated Mnangagwa include, Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi, John Magufuli of Tanzania and South African opposition leader Julius Malema.
