It Would Have Been A Tragedy If Chamisa Won: Obert Gutu

Deputy president of the breakaway MDC-T party led by Thokozani Khupe, Obert Gutu has called on Nelson Chamisa to accept defeat in the presidential election. Gutu who fell out with Chamisa earlier this year said that it would have been a tragedy if the MDC Alliance leader won the presidential election. Speaking to Sunday News, Gutu said,

I personally saw it coming. We know him very well. He is not Presidential material. It was going to be a tragedy for Zimbabwe if Chamisa had won the elections. We do not want pretenders as presidents in Zimbabwe. He pretends to be a Godly man but underneath he uses violence. Look at the manner he assumed power, how he lied to assume power.

In the just-ended elections, he was beaten fair and square. There was no cooking of election results here. It is the same manner he was clobbered by Douglas Mwonzora at the MDC’s 4th National Congress at City Sports Centre in 2014. I can assure you that even if there is another congress or election, he will lose all over again.

  1. Thank you Mr Gutu, why don’t you let the dust settle than pouring flames in infernos don’t you recognise the already existing tragedy let us mourn together

  2. It sounds like Gutu has personal scores to settle. If Chamisa can prove that the election was rigged, give him the chance to do so then judge him when he has put his cards on the table. From you statements, one wonders how Zimbabwe can ever be liberated from the grip of Zanu PF if the opposition parties shoot at each other needlessly. It becomes hard not to believe the allegations that Zanu funds these opposition splits. Give the man a chance to present his evidence. If the evidence is frivolous, you can then give him a run on his money. I think that’s what democratically oriented people should do. For now, Gutu is way offside. I would have expected him to condemn the state-sponsored violence that killed 6 people that to critic a person who is claiming to have evidence about how an election was rigged. He doesnt sit on the bench of the constitutional court so he should not seek relevance by commenting on the Alliance’s issues.

  3. Is MDC the only Zimbabwean party fighting very hard to return the land to the former supremacists minority rulers in Zimbabwe?? WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO DO THIS??
