One person has been confirmed dead after soldiers used live ammunition on civilian protesters. The opposition protesters were demonstrating against perceived electoral fraud by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec). The opposition supporters stoned several buildings in the central business district and set several vehicles on fire. This resulted in police firing tear gas at the protestors. However, in what may have been an attempt at an overwhelming show of force, the army deployed into the city centre using at least one tank and several armoured personnel carriers. The soldiers were using live ammunition and have been accused of firing indiscriminately at the protestors. Three people has been confirmed to have died from the gunshots.
