Zanu-PF Speaks On Reports ZEC Might Have Reported Mnangagwa To The Police

In an interview with ENCA’s Vuyo Mvoko, Zanu-PF Legal Secretary Paul Mangwana responded to reports his party’s presidential candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa may have been reported to the police by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for breaching the Electoral Act.

Mnangagwa posted a video on Facebook decampaigning MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa and accusing him of working with former President Robert Mugabe. Mangagwa said the police has not approached Zanu-PF over the matter. Said Mangwana

Once allegations are leveled against any of the candidates the rule of law requires that you get the full facts and be given an opportunity to respond. So it will be premature for me to make any response because the charges have not been leveled formally against those alleged to have breached the law…So it would be unwise and prejudicial for me to make any comments whilst the a matter is under investigation by the police. Let the police do their work and at an appropriate moment responses will be given.
