The European Union Election Observer Mission (EUEOM) has commented on Monday’s harmonised elections saying it was a mixed bag as some polling stations were “totally disorganised” while others functioned “very smoothly.” Chief Observer Elmar Brok said that the group was yet to make a conclusion on how the election went. Said Brok,
In some cases, it (voting queues) works very smoothly but in others, we see that it is totally disorganised and that people become angry, people leave. We have not found out whether there is coincidence or bad organisation.
Some people are saying that at some polling stations the delay is to frustrate some voters to go without voting.
Brok said that the observers would check whether the incident of a ruling Zanu-PF bus which delivered 100 people from a different area to vote in another area was an isolated case or part of a pattern “which might have influence on the result of the elections.”
