The ruling Zanu-PF party has withdrawn its case against known Zanu-PF supporter and aspiring legislator for Goromonzii South Oswell Gwanzura. The party had dragged Gwanzura to the High Court seeking an order to have him barred from using President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s images in his campaigns. Zanu-PF also wanted Gwanzura to stop using the “ED Pfee” slogan at his rallies. However, the party withdrew the case after High Court judge Justice Felistus Chatukuta said that there was no law barring independent candidates from associating with presidential candidates of their own choice.
Gwanazura registered as an independent after complaining about irregularities in the Zanu-PF primary elections which were won by Labour Minister Petronella Kagonye.
