VP Chiwenga Tells Insiza Residents Not To Pay Debts Owed To Zinwa

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has told villagers in Insiza, Matabeleland South, not to pay the debts owed the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) debts which were carried over from the Zimbabwe dollar era, pre-2009. Chiwenga said that Zinwa has no authority over the villagers’ fisheries. Speaking at a rally at Filabusi Centre, Chiwenga said,

We heard that villagers are being forced to pay thousands of dollars as debts carried over from that era. This should stop immediately and villagers should go and farm freely knowing that they do not owe Zinwa. Zinwa should stop acting as if they own the fisheries project, it belongs to you all and you should benefit fully.

The vice president has also been criticised for telling residents to stop paying their rates to local authorities citing poor service delivery.
