ZHRO Hands Over Petition To UK Government, Says Zimbabwe Is Not Heading For A Free And Fair Election.

On Wednesday 11th July 2018, the Zimbabwe Human Rights Organisation (ZHRO) handed in a petition to No 10 Downing Street to explain to the UK Government that Zimbabwe is NOT heading for a Free and Fair Election.

Said one of the petitioners Gladys Hellen Meck:

We are reminding the U.K. that for any type of democracy, sound and credible election is the most reliable means for the determination of who the representative of the people will be and Zimbabwe should not be an exception.

The detailed petition below is regarding the poor electoral environment and reminding the U.K. government that verbal assurances from a military dictatorship – with a horrendous record of torture, murder, and disappearances – are not worth the paper they are written on. It was handed in by Kingstone Jambawo, Salom Nkiwane, Mary Muteyerwa, Nancy Mukurira, Molly Ngavaimbe, and Sibongile Bungidzire. You can download the petition here
