The officer-in-charge of Borrowdale Police Station, Simbarashe Sibanda was freed on $50 bail by High Court judge Justice Davis Foroma after almost two weeks in custody. Sibanda who is facing charges of attempted murder after scalding his second wife with boiling water, was denied bail on his first court appearance due to the severity of his alleged crime.

Sibanda allegedly scalded his Ruswa, a fellow police officer with boiling water after a misunderstanding over supper. Ruswa is reported to have failed to prepare supper because there was no relish, something which did not go down well with Sibanda. She suffered severe burns and was admitted at West End Hospital for 11 days. A medical report is yet to be obtained.
