Fight Over MDC-T Name Is Not Over, We Will Revive It After Elections: Chamisa

MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa has said that the fight over the MDC-T name and symbols against Thokozani Khupe’s breakaway MDC-T party is far from over. Chamisa withdrew the case from the High Court last week. However, he has explained that he did so as a strategic withdrawal after realising that Khupe was being used by the ruling Zanu-PF party. Chamisa vowed to continue with the matter after the July 30 elections, saying the matter is being politicised at the moment.

Speaking at a rally in Marondera, Chamisa said,

That is why I removed my case against Khupe from court. I realised that Khupe had agreed to be used by Zanu PF against the people. However, I will revive the case after the elections.

However, Thokozani Khupe’s deputy Obert Gutu scoffed at the claims, and took to social media where he said,

A cheap, junior lawyer who has got no respect for our judiciary is welcome to resuscitate the MDC name and logo legal battle after he is thrashed in the July 30 elections.
We’ll teach him a lesson in basic law.
