People Would Vote For A Donkey Than Zanu-PF’s Indian Candidate: Bhasikiti

MDC Alliance candidate for Mwenezi East Kudakwashe Bhasikiti confirmed posting a tweet saying people would vote for a donkey rather than Zanu-P’s Indian candidate Joosbi Omar.

Bhasikiti said the people in Mwenezi East would not vote for Omar and would choose one of their own. The tweet reads:

Contesting an Indian in rural Mwenezi no matter how much people are intimidated they will choose one of their own zvekuti kuZanu nyangwe ukaisa dhongi vanhu vanorivhotera zvakaenda nemwene wazvo.

When contacted by The Herald for comment on the tweet, Bhasikiti said there was nothing wrong with his tweet adding that Omar has no Indian in Mwenezi East who will vote for him. Said Bhasikiti:

In what way is it racist? It is a surprise in Mwenezi East. There is no one Indian voter to vote for him. He (Omar) has gone to rural, rural Mwenezi kusina kana one of his blood kin and there is nothing racist in saying that. I did not say Omar should not contest. I am saying it is unique that an Indian is contesting where there are no Indians. It is just like self-imposition.
