Parirenyatwa Appoints New Health Services Board

Minister of Health and Child Care, David Parirenyatwa has named a new six-member Health Services Board to oversee operations in the health sector. This comes after the minister dissolved the Dr Lovemore Mbengeranwa-led Health Service Board (HSB) four weeks ago in unclear circumstances. Members of the new board are,

  • Chairperson – Dr Paulinos Ncube, a public health specialist.
  • Deputy Chair – Professor Auxilia Munodawafa
  • Mr Memory Nguwi, human resources expert
  • Dr Stanley Munngofa, former Harare City Health Director
  • Mrs Sefe Bhebhe, a monitoring and evaluation expert and
  • Mercy Gwaunza, legal expert

In recent time the Health Services Board has come under fire for failing to address the working conditions and welfare of medical personnel in state-run institutions resulting in crippling strikes by doctors and nurses.
