High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi sentenced three armed robbers to death for killing four white commercial farmers. The three Kiribon Jirimadenga, Richard John and Doesmatter Vhore were convicted of murder with actual intent after they targetted the Mashonaland Central farmers in 2011.
The state managed to prove that in 2011, the trio conspired to rob and murder white commercial farmers in Guruve and Centenary areas. They robbed and killed one Zietsman of Simapiri Farm in Centenary after striking him with an iron bar. They also killed Barbra Ervine’s unnamed husband with a metal hoe in the same year. In 2014, they killed Malcom Francis of Muzhanje farm and his daughter, May using an angle iron bar.
The three are unlikely to be hanged, however, as President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed his opposition to the death sentence.
