Khupe Dismisses Reports That She Has Withdrawn From Election In order To Back Mnangagwa

Deputy president of the breakaway MDC-T formation led by Thokozani Khupe, Obert Gutu, has dismissed reports that Khupe has withdrawn from the presidential race in order to back President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Said Gutu,

It has come to my attention that there is a Twitter #hashtag claiming to have had an interview with me, in which I am alleged to have stated that we are going to withdraw the presidential candidature of Thokozani Khupe in favour of President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zanu PF…I believe whoever is behind this is obviously someone who is evil and is pushing a sinister agenda against myself and our political party in general.  Let me reiterate that there is nothing like that, I never had any interview with anyone or any journalist in this country or anywhere in the world for that matter in which I stated that we are withdrawing our presidential candidate.

Khupe is one of a record 23 candidates who are contesting for the presidency on the July 30 harmonised elections.

  1. Not surprised, there is no smoke without fire something is there, who was paying her legal fees to challenge Chamisa, who was at her corner encouraging her to split the MDC she knows better, but she should know that after these election she will be History, she has dug her political grave with her own teeth. She should warm up with the new dispensation so that she get a farm to start her market gardening Bulawayo and Matebeleland can always find a proper candidate to go together with Chamisa to bring real change in Zimbabwe.
