Court Acquits Messenger Who Swapped US$4000 Notes With Bond Notes, Says There Is No Crime

Kumbulani Davi (41) a messenger who was arrested for stealing $4000 in United States notes which were meant for delivery and replacing it with an equal amount of Bond notes has been acquitted. Bulawayo Provincial Magistrate Franklin Mkwananzi dismissed the charges before Davi had presented his defence saying that the state had failed to prove its case.

The State alleged that Davi substituted $4000 in USD20 denominations, with bond notes worth $4010. The offence was discovered when the person counting the money highlighted that there was an extra $10 in bond notes. The magistrate said that there was no documentation stating the denominations which had been submitted.
