MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa has said that he is not worried about the military because they are professionals and will not block his ascension to power if he wins the 2018 presidential elections. He dismissed Finance Deputy Minister Terrence Mukupe’s statements that the army would block him. Speaking at a rally in Gwanda, Chamisa said,
Mukupe said if I win, the army won’t allow me to rule, he said they will stop me from the ruling. This will not happen because soldiers are patriotic and professional. They don’t serve an individual but they follow the will of the people and therefore they will support the will of the people because it’s the people who would have elected me.
