Zanu-PF Cancels Primary Election Re-run In Minister Kagonye’s Constituency, Rivals Cry Foul

Zanu-PF national political commissar Lieutenant-General (retired) Engelbert Rugeje has cancelled a re-run of the primary election in Goromonzi which was won by incumbent MP and labour minister Petronella Kangonye. Kagonye’s rivals have claimed that she used undue influence to have the election scrapped. One losing candidate said,

We are unhappy with the decision made by Cde Rugeje in calling off the re-run of the primary election. We were fully prepared for the re-run, but it seems Kangonye has also used her influence to block a re-run of the elections from being held.

Kagonye’s rivals have alleged that the elections were rigged in her favour.
