Petina Gappah Denies Leading Smear Campaign Against Minister Mukupe, Says Her Account Was Cloned

Lawyer and writer Petina Gappah has denied allegations that she attempted to use social media site Twitter to smear Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Terence Mukupe. Gappah who was previously a critic of former president Robert Mugabe has become a supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. She is alleged to have tried to start a campaign to bring down Mukupe for allegedly sabotaging Manngagwa’s administration through reckless statements.

This was exposed after Twitter personality, Matigary (@Realmatigari) shared a private message she had allegedly sent him which reads,

We need to start a campaign to get rid of Mukupe. He adds no value to the party at all. He undermines and sabotages. He has to go.

However, Gappah denied the allegations saying that her account had been cloned. Said Gappah,

My account was cloned. And frankly, Mukupe is doing a good job of smearing himself with no help from outsiders.
