Mugabe Absconds Parliamentary Portfolio Committee Hearing On Missing Diamonds Revenue

Former president Robert Mugabe failed to show up before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy today. The former president was expected to testify before the Temba Mliswa led committee which is investigating missing diamond revenues from the Chiadzwa diamond fields. Mugabe is expected to explain a claim he made in 2016 when he said that the country could have lost US$15 billion from the diamond fields. No reasons were given for the former president’s non-appearance.

Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee Temba Mliswa said that his committee has resolved to write another letter to former President Robert Mugabe asking him to come on the 29th of May at 14:00.
