Man Arrested For Assaulting Two People During MDC Alliance Primary Elections

Wayne Mpala (22) from Gwabalanda suburb was arrested for allegedly kicking Mrs Alettah Zvavamwe on the thigh and pushing Mr Nephat Sibanda on Saturday at Amakhosi Grounds polling station following an argument among the MDC Alliance supporters during the coalition’s primary elections.

The argument allegedly started when Mrs Zvavamwe and some MDC Alliance members questioned why some people who were not from Gwabalanda were being allowed to vote. Mpala pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault when he appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube who remanded him out of custody to June 5 for trial. He was warned against interfering with State witnesses.

  1. Police must arrest without any political restraint anyone who uses violence against anyone. No to violence!
