Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Terrence Mukupe has claimed that Zimbabwe’s economic problems have been partly caused by incompetent Ministers of Finance with no background in finance. Mukupe inadvertently fired a broadside at his boss, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa. Speaking at Transparency International Zimbabwe event last week, Mukupe said,
The problem we have in Zimbabwe is we have Ministers who are non-finance people making decisions on financial matters hence the country is in such a situation. The problem that we have had in Zimbabwe is we had a proper guy running the Finance Ministry and that was the late Bernard Chidzero and I think that was the last time our country had a surplus.
And then when you look at the decisions that the Finance Ministers have always been making whenever they have the issues with the budget, their default has always been to increase taxes. That is all you need to tell there has been limited capacity of thinking.

Yes Chidzero was only qualified Minister of Finance but now even mediocre lawyers are now ministers of Finance or even educationist like Chombo and even thugs who beat staff in the ministry are appointed as deputy ministers. Thus the ZANU way of governance. We want to drain the swamp the Trump way. We should look for competent people who understand both fiscal and monetary policies, not just ass lickers.

That l agree with Mukupe, hence one of the reasons lm turning to MDC. I know MDC is not perfect but am willing to give it a chance and work with them if l could be of help.

Well mate the MDC is saying Biti was good the likely scenario is that if MDC wins another Lawyer is going to be your minister of finance and if coupled by a Governor who ONLY has banking experience like Gono it’s a recipe for disaster their solution to problems is to print more money You need An Ecomist of a high degree like Chidzero they only need a lawyer to draw contracts I saw Mudhara Chinamasa Achibudisa tsinga on hard talk when Mudabe was in power that’s another person ED must get rid off from minister of finance . Even if asking people like Kombo Moyana if still around or getting a technocrat like Manuel fro South Africa would be a good idea and let them groom a very competent economist or even call people like Eddie Cross as a national duty or this one with big ears Robertson or something. Someone who has no allegiance to a political party or Bring Guys with integrity like Ngoni Kudenga as a national duty they can deliver
