We Are Witnessing The Death Of Zimbabwe Cricket - Tatenda Taibu

Former Zimbabwe Cricket captain Tatenda Taibu has spoken out against the mismanagement of the local game. According to Taibu, unless something is done quickly Zimbabwe cricket may be dying. In an interview with Cricfrenzy, Taibu said,

The state of cricket in the country is really at a critical point. If something is not done very soon, I think we are actually witnessing the death of Zimbabwean cricket, unfortunately. It is not very nice for me to be saying this, but it is the truth.

All I know I that they asked eighteen technical staffs to resign a month or a couple of months back. That’s not a good indication for the state of cricket in Zimbabwe. The players haven’t been given their match fees since Sri Lanka series last year. All the other workers and administrators have not been given their money, their wages, since February-March if I am not mistaken.

In 2004 we had a debt of about $600,000 but now our debt is about $20 million. It just indicates how badly our organization has been running, over the last 14-15 years.
