The South African Football Association (SAFA) has fined Ajax Cape Town R150 000 and awarded three matches to Ajax’s opponents on a 3-0 scoreline. This effectively relegates Ajax as it had managed two wins against Platinum Stars and SuperSport United, as well as a draw with Polokwane City in the matches it has forfeited. This comes after Ajax were found guilty of fielding an ineligible player in Tendai Ndoro.
Ndoro was ineligible to play as FIFA regulations prevent a player from playing for three clubs in the same season. Ndoro played 13 minutes during the opening match of the season for Orlando Pirates before moving to Saudi club Al-Faisaly. However, he left the Saudi club and joined Ajax after he went months without getting paid.
Ajax Cape Town has said that it will challenge the ruling.
Amongst other issues, the club will seek to interdict the promotion playoffs from commencing on Wednesday 16th May at 3pm. This will be sought pending an urgent review of the arbitrators award this morning.#WeAreAjaxCT 🔴⚪️
