Mutsvangwa Norton Rival Comments On Decision To Quit Zanu-PF Primary Election Rerun

Langton Mutendereki who pulled out from the Zanu-PF primary election rerun in Norton where he was going to face Christopher Mutsvangwa confirmed that he had withdrawn from the race.

Mutendeki who won the first time said he decided to withdrawal for the sake of progress in Zanu-PF and is now backing Mutsvangwa. Said Mutendeki:

Yes, I have withdrawn my candidature from the primary election re-run. We can’t continue fighting for primary elections yet we have a general election that is coming. We need time to prepare for the general election so I decided to withdraw for the sake of progress in the party. I am now backing Cde Mutsvangwa as the party’s candidate and remember the general elections are just two months away from now.

There are reports that Mutendeki was forced to withdrawal with sources that attended the Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial coordinating committee (PCC) meeting on Saturday saying they were given an instruction to ensure Mutsvangwa was not contested.
