Job Sikhala the lawyer for former Cabinet Minister Walter Mzembi has told the court that his client is gravely ill and is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of a South Africa hospital. This comes after Mzembi failed to attend his own trial to answer charges of stealing $1,6 million meant for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) congress in 2013. Mzembi is facing several cases of fraud. Sikhala refused to reveal the condition which was affecting his client citing attorney-client confidentiality and asked for the case to be heard in camera without any audience. However, the magistrate refused.
The magistrate issued a warrant of arrest for him.
