A Glen Norah supermarket owner and his six employees appeared in court facing murder charges after they allegedly fatally assaulted a suspected thief. Harare magistrate Victoria Mashambe denied the seven suspects bail and told them to approach the High Court instead. They were remanded to the 22nd of May. The seven suspects are Tawanda Chivaya, 32, Clive Dizamuhupe, 33, Fidelis Mutandwa, 33, Chiona Nyakunuwa, 32, Cloete Soko, 21, Enough Rusere, 32, and Adolf Nyamayedenga, 28, while the victim is Israel Mashinge.
According to the State, Mashinge stole some meat from Choice Supermarket, owned by Chivaya. He was apprehended by one of the suspects who searched him and discovered the meat. The seven suspects are alleged to have taken turns to assault Mashinge in a storeroom. When he became unconscious, the suspects bundled him in a car and dumped him along a dusty road in Glen View 8 industrial site
