Gastaff Kativu who wants to run for President in the forthcoming elections was removed from remand when he appeared before Harare magistrate Josephine Sande in a case where he faces charges of undermining President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s authority after he called him a murderer. Magistrate Sande removed Kativhu from remand after considering the State was taking an excessive amount of time to provide a trial date. The State had argued that investigations are still underway. However, Sande advised the State to proceed by way of summons.
The State alleges on December 15 last year, Kativhu entered the venue of the Zanu-PF extraordinary congress and headed to the VIP tent while waving placards accusing Mnangagwa of killing his friend and calling for the United Nations (UN) to supervise Zimbabwe’s forth-coming general elections.
It is alleged the placards were written: “Another 37 years of no jobs; Election by UN or else 2008; Chiwenga, don’t beat vendors give them jobs; Mnangagwa, Chiwenga diamond mafia; Mnangagwa killed my friend and Zanu PF is giving your jobs to Chinese”.
