The Federation of Zimbabwe Educators’ Union (FOZEU) has responded to reports in the State owned Sunday Mail that Government has come up with a package to improve teachers’ salaries and working conditions. FOZEU also denies reports that the majority of unions representing teaching staff have pledged not to engage in a strike on opening day and urges its members to remain ready to engage on a strike in the event that the talks on the 7th of May yield nothing.
FOZEU also denies they have sealed a salary hike deal with Government. The union which is compromised of five teachers’ unions states that the APEX Council should not attend the meeting set for the 7th of May 2018 saying it is strictly a FOZEU consultative meeting with relevant stakeholders.

FOZEU POSITION ON MEDIA SPECULATION ON SALARY HIKES
06 May 2018
We the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators’ Union comprised of Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), Professional Educators’ Union of Zimbabwe (PEUZ), Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association (ZIMTA) and Zimbabwe National Teachers Union (ZINATU) Strongly reject insinuations coining through the media that teachers have sealed a salary hike deal with the Government. This is patently and blatantly false. It is mischievous and a creation of the enemies of the success of FOZEU. These are just media spins.
We urge our members to remain resolute and bracing for combat as was being systematically planned. For the record the APEX Council has no business in the meeting set for the 7th of May 2018. It is strictly a FOZEU consultative meeting with relevant stakeholders.
There is no salary deal whatsoever between FOZEU and the Government.
In the meantime we urge our members to remain vigilant and ready for combat come Tuesday 8th May 2018 if our demands and concerns are not positively addressed in the meeting of the 7th, May 2018.
LONG LIVE FOZEU!!!

when it was nurses zimbabwe cried foul, ascerting that nurses has no people at heart. this cry could have been intepreted as meaning that nurses should not compliant, that they must just work and not expect reward since they deal with human life, that their welfare is not an issue at all. no or few comments seem to have been supportive of nurses strike. here we are teachers what do we say? pliz help the nation recognize the importance of teachers versus what they earn.
