50 Party Leaders Desert Joice Mujuru For MDC-T, Say There Is No Hope

At least 50 senior party members have dumped Joice Mujuru’s National People’s Party (NPP) for the opposition MDC-T. The defectors claimed that there is no hope with Mujuru after she failed to join the coalition MDC Alliance which they claim is the only hope of dislodging Zanu-PF in the upcoming 2018 elections.

The major reason that has driven us to make this bold decision is that we have differed fundamentally with the leadership of Joice Mujuru on the way forward regarding the party’s joining of a true grand coalition of progressive political formations.

It is our considered view that the MDC Alliance is the only platform that currently offers this once-in-a-generation opportunity to dislodge Zanu PF from continuing to mismanage the affairs of the State and the economy.

However, NPP secretary-general Gift Nyandoro dismissed the defections saying that it was a non-event.
