Speaking in Mangwe recently, Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said drivers and passengers who throw litter from car windows will now pay a fine of $100 after Government increased the fine from $25. She also added that cars will not be allowed to move without car bins starting next month.
She said in a few weeks to come, Government will hold a conference to approve the laws. Said Muchinguri-Kashiri:
We are tightening our laws around littering, if you are seen littering the environment from moving cars, it will no longer be $25 but $100 or more as punishment. No car will be allowed to move without a car bin from next month. We will hold a big conference to put a stamp on those laws in a few weeks to come. We have tried campaigning and raising awareness and it seems we are failing to put across the message as people continue littering with no remorse.
