Prof Moyo Defends Mnangagwa, Chiwenga Over Claims They Are Foreigners, Says Judge Them On Merit

President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President, General (retired) Constantino Chiwenga have found an unlikely defender in Professor Jonathan Moyo. Moyo who has been a rabid critic of the two men has launched a vigorous defence of the two men after they were called foreigners by National Patriotic Front spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire. Mawarire said the two men were ineligible to lead the country because they originated from Zambia and Mocambique.

However, Moyo dismissed this assertion as rubbish and said that the two-man had contributed immensely to Zimbabwe’s liberation. He said that the only criteria that should be used to judge Mnangagwa and his deputy is their actions. Moyo who has previously accused Chiwenga and Mnangagwa of leading a violent military coup against former president Robert Mugabe wrote on his Twitter account,

It’s false, illegal & unacceptable to say Mnangagwa & Chiwenga are foreigners. They were born in Zimbabwe & contributed immensely to the country’s liberation. A name isn’t a nationality. Besides, it’s not a crime to be a foreigner. People are judged by their deeds, not parentage!
