Chamisa’s MDC Secures Legal Protection Of Its Name, Symbol

The opposition MDC-T party is reported to have patented its name and symbols. This comes at a time when former Vice President Thokozani Khupe who was expelled from the party has declared that she will contest in this year’s elections using the MDC-T name. Khupe who has also been expelled from Parliament is claiming that she is the rightful leader of the MDC-T Party.

Jameson Timba, a member of the MDC national executive council, however, denied confirming the development saying,

The matter is sub judice now, we can talk after the hearing scheduled for tomorrow (today) in Bulawayo.

Chamisa’s MDC-T has also filed an application at the Bulawayo High Court accusing Khupe, Obert Gutu and Abednigo Bhebhe of infringing on trademarks.
