Aspiring President Wants High Court To Stop Mnangagwa From Setting Election Date

Aspiring president Gastaff Kativu  who leads the Complete Knock Down of Establishment (CKD) has approached the High Court seeking an order to disband the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) among other things. Kativu also argues that Emmerson Mnangagwa does not have the power to proclaim election dates because he ascended to power via a military coup and as such polls should be delayed and an all-inclusive transitional authority set with the mandate or authority to run the country, restructure the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and call for an election.

Kativu also calls for the current ZDF to be disbanded in the event that it cannot be delinked from Zanu-PF and pave way for an apolitical ZDF. Said Kativu:

There is indisputable link or affiliation of the ZDF to Zanu PF party, which originated from the liberation struggle, which must be annulled by the second respondent (ZDF) for the reason that ZDF is a national army and not a Zanu PF party’s political militia. And if the ZDF cannot be de-linked or de-affiliated from Zanu PF party, then the current politically-biased ZDF must be demobilised or disbanded to pave way for a new and neutral ZDF without any political bias, which shall be made to swear to defend all political movements in the country as part and parcel of Zimbabwe.

  1. Interesting it is truly must be what happens but I doubt that a con court with military appointees on board will even give it the time of day
